The Pros of New Construction

New vs Used

There’s nothing like the feeling you get moving into a home no one else has ever lived in. Everything is clean, pristine, and was put there for you and you alone. Rarely will you experience the scary surprises that come with a resale property and, if something does occur, new homes carry a warranty. If you like extra clean and peace of mind a new home may deliver exactly what you’re looking for.

Customization

If you choose to go new construction before ground breaks; you have options. There is the potential to make changes to the floor plan, pick colors, and finishes. After all, who knows better what your needs are than you and having the option to customize a home is a true luxury.

Limited Options

Some builders limit the options available or, maybe you come across a new construction that is already complete and you have no options. This can also be a good thing. Unless you’re a design pro; it can be quite the daunting task trying to change floor plans or pick all the finishing touches for a home. New construction with limited to no options may help ease the stress that can come with having too many choices.

Energy Efficiency

New homes take advantage of the latest innovations in energy efficiency. You’ll have better insulation, heating/cooling, appliances, windows, and more. I can’t think of a better way to save money than to have an energy efficient home.

Less Maintenance Costs in the First Years

New homes are not always perfect but the chances of having to deal with a broken pipe or leaky roof is significantly lower. That means less stress and less money spent while things are new. Most builders also offer home warranties. Typically a short term whole house and longer term structural. Buying a home is a major purchase and having these warranties can be a huge financial benefit and relief in the years to follow.

Is New Construction right for you? Do your research and think clearly about what you want in a home, now and in the future. Consider bringing an agent with you so you have someone to advocate for your interests. It can, at times, be a tricky process so the more you know going in the better you’ll be able to navigate the process.
